Premiere at the Padel National Championships in Upper Austria and Salzburg

Within just a few weeks, the first APU National Padel Championships took place at the Padelbase locations in two federal states. It all started in Upper Austria, where the first Upper Austrian Padel National Championships were held in Wels from September 8-9, 2023.

The national championships in Upper Austria initially went off without any major surprises. The number 1 seeded pairing of Christopher Brunner/Florian Brunner played their way into the final without losing a set. On the other side were Björn Nareyka/Tim Kellermair, who narrowly beat Marc Kluft/Kevin Waldner in the semi-finals. In a hard-fought final, Nareyka/Kellermair finally defeated the top-seeded Brunners in the championship tiebreak 6/4 2/6 10/6.

The Salzburg team followed suit just four weeks later on October 7 with the start of the national championships. With a high number of participants totaling 24 doubles pairs, 3 competitions could be filled (Starter, Advanced and Expert). Franco Lopez and Jose Fernandez secured victory in the Expert competition and thus the first official Salzburg national champion title. They won the final in two tight sets of 6:3 and 6:4 against the well-rehearsed duo Franco Iriart and Pablo Von der Heiden.
